OBIT Richard A. Eastin, 70, of Vermilion, died Wednesday evening at Lorain Community Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born in Lorain, where he lived before moving to vermilion 30 years ago. Eastin was employed 32 years with U. S. Steel in Lorain. He retired in 1981. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, serving in the European Theater: a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art: and a member of St. Mary's Church in Vermilion. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Alma (nee Heider): daughters Mrs. Allan (Nancy) Appleton of Vermilion and Mrs. Richard (Jacqueline) Watson of Vermilion; a son, Richard W. of Thailand; four grandchildren; and a sister, Jean Eastin of Amherst. He was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Disler; and brothers Kenneth, Keith and William. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South St., Vermilion, where a Christian Wake service will be at 8 tonight. Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow in the funeral home, followed by 10 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church in Vermilion. The Rev. Herbert M. Ritchey Jr., associate pastor, will officiate. Contributions may be made to the Building Fund of St. Mary's Church.
