BERNICE V BAKER

CUMBERLAND ? Bernice Virginia Baker, 76, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at Memorial Hospital.

Born Sept. 26, 1925, in Garrett County, she was the daughter of the late Asa Harris and Ina (Connor) Harris. She was also preceded in death by a son, Frederick Norman Baker in Vietnam 1965; two sisters, Dorothy Shipe, Arline Knotts; a brother, Carlos Harris, and David A. Hook, who she reared as a son. Mrs. Baker was a member of the Gold Star Mothers, Ladies Auxillary of the American Legion Post 13, and St. Luke?s Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Raymond Baker, Cumberland; two children she reared, Carl P. Hook and wife Sheila, Cumberland, and Lawrence E. Hook and wife Cathy, Cumberland; grandchildren, Crystal and Kevin Hook, Reading, Pa., Jeffrey and Laura Hook, Cumberland, Joshua Steele-Hook, Cumberland; two sisters, Lena Robinette, Cumberland, Vivian Cifranic, Cleveland, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and two special nieces, Nancy Sarver and Peggy Holcomb. Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Stephen F. Yelovich officiating.

Interment will be in the Hillcrest Burial Park. Pallbearers for Mrs. Baker will be, Joshua Steele-Hook, Wesley Bridges, Jimmy Cox, Eric Livengood, Gary Powell, and Jeff Hook.
