Connell, 62, retired obstetrician-gynecologist, will be at Gesu Catholic Church, 2470 Miramar Blvd., University Heights, at 10 a.m. Monday. Dr. Connell died Thursday at his home in University Heights, apparently of a heart attack. He had a heart attack about 10 years ago. The coroner will rule on the cause of death. Dr. Connell closed his practice in 1979 but worked five more years as a family planner for the Cleveland health department, first at Clement Center and then at McCafferty Center. He retired in 1984. He was born in Cleveland and graduated from St. Ignatius High School and John Carroll University. He received his medical degree from St. Louis University in 1947, interned at St. John Hospital here and did his residency at St. Mary Hospital in Detroit and the old St. Ann Hospital here. He was on the staff of St. Ann for 20 years and was chief of staff from 1966 to 1970. When St. Ann closed, he joined the staff of Euclid General Hospital. He was in the Air Force from 1952 to 1954.
