Per John Stack genealogy by Mary Lou Bregitzer: Clara and Al met at the Crystal Dance Hall at East 105th & Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, and dated for four years before their marriage. Their first home was at 13514 Graham Avenue, East Cleveland (half of a double with Nora Stack in the other half); in 1927 to 13001 Edmonton Avenue, East Cleveland; in 1930 to1969 Nelawood Avenue, East Cleveland, OH and finally to 1935 to their new home at 1203 Winston Road, South Euclid OH, where they raised their four children. Al was an accountant for the Nickel Plate Railroad; suffered from asthma for many years and passed away at age 40 on March 17, 1939. Prior to her marriage, Clara worked as a secretary. She was a full-time homemaker after her first child was born, until her husband died. She was left to raise four children alone. She began working at her sister's beauty shop--Marie's at 3938 Mayfield Road, Cleveland Heights OH. Until her early death, she remained the mainstay of the family. All the family gathered at her home. She was truly loved by everyone. She died following bladder suspension surgery of cardiac failure on March 23, 1958. She was 58. Both Al and Clara are buried in Calvary Cemetery, Cleveland ,Section30, Grave 52. |
