Joan--I know she (Mary Stack Snyder) went to Cleveland once. Ag-They used to go up to Cleveland all the time to visit Jeannette. Mymother and father, Mary and Jake, every other weekend it seemed they wereup in Cleveland. Then Jeannette and Roy would be down to our house. Iremember that.

ROBERT (ROCK) GILLESPIE

Jean-Were all the family Catholic? Ag-Well, I know my dad wasn't Catholicbut he went to Church and took instructions to be a Catholic. He gottyphoid fever and he wouldn't go back. But he was a strict Catholicwhether he was or not. We had to go to church first thing in the morning.I had to go to church, come home and eat breakfast, then go to school.Oh, every morning he made us go to church.

Adam was married to Rose Marie Snyder. Ag--... Angeline Gillespie and William Gillespie, but I was too young to know all this. A sister in Cincinnati, Kate, Katherine. Do you know her married name? Ag-Good Lord, I can't even think of it now, it has been so long. I think she has passed away. Katherine. So there were only the two brothers and the one sister? Ag-There was George, Adam, and my dad (Robert) and Kate. Katherine. And they were originally from Pennsylvania? Ag-Their grandmother was. I don't know, believe me I can't tell you any of this. Katherine. But they all came from Ireland then? Ag-Yeah. 2/2002 taped interview at Pat's house in Covina, CA. Evelyn Davis Lundblad, Betty Davis Stroberg, Pat Stroberg Serio. Betty--Helen (Stack) she was real pretty, she picked Rock Gillespie. He beat her up all the time. Jean-Didn't he used to run around? Betty-Oh God, yes. Evelyn-Heck yeah. At his funeral I came down and in comes some babe witha satin outfit and diamond earrings and the funeral's about two o'clock. And I said, "Who's that?" And somebody said that Rock's girlfriend. Betty-No, you're thinking about the son, Ralph, that died. Evelyn-No I'm not. I'm thinking of Rock. Rock had girlfriends all hislife. That's why? he cheated on Helen Gillespie. Betty-Helen had to work all her life. She ended up as a dishwasher whenshe was 72. Washing dishes. Evelyn--Rock was a devil. He cheated on her. Jean-He used to own a used car lot.
