Shared note | Notes taken by Jean and Joan Srpan (twins) in June, 1991. Florence miscarried twin boys between Theresa and Florence. Per Florence, he met her at his parent's apartment on Elm, in Youngstown,Ohio. Florence worked for some people who lived there. They were marriedin Crowder Army Base in Missouri, where Roy was stationed, in July 6,1943. Florence talked about the long, lonely bus ride to the base. When Joan and Jean visited in 1991, Florence suffered from Alzheimer'sdisease. Her memory was very poor for recent and even long term events. Jean remembers staying with Roy and Florence for several weeks for 2-3summers when they lived on Custer Ave., Youngstown, Ohio. Florence wasvery nice to Joan and Jean. She made good dinners, cleaned and took careof the house. Jean does not remember her working. Florence and Roy wouldargue, Roy being much louder and threatening. During one argument,Florence, took her purse, put on her hat and left the house for a bar forhours. Roy and Florence ordered a pizza from 5th Ave. Pizza once. I thinkTheresa, Joan and I might have picked it up. That was the first take outfood, and certainly the first pizza that Jean ever had. They moved to Austintown around 1958 because Roy did not like living nearblack people and the neighborhood was deteriorating. Joan and I nevervisited them at the Austintown house. Per funeral holy card: age 77. Services: Saturday, April 18, 1992 at10:00 AM, Higgins Funeral Home, Austintown, Ohio. Officiating: FatherLawrence Fye. Interment: April 18, 1992, Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown,Ohio. Per Theresa's note May 5, 1992. "I thought I would write and tell you mybeloved mother passed away on April 15, 1992. She was truly thestrongest, bravest, corageous little lady that I'll ever meet. She was mybest friend and I miss her so much. I would write more but I'm sufferingfrom a broken heart. Please keep us in your prAyers. Love Terri |
