He does not know if he has an E-Mail address anddoes not know how to use E-Mail, but prefers I send him copies of my sideof the family for his geneology. He is not too active in doing thegeneology but wishes to preserve information and stories from the oldergeneration for his children and grandchildren. Frank Bowser is Catholic, as is his Hungarian, Catholic wife. Frank methis wife Alice when they were introduced by a friend. Frank went toCathedral Latin High School, then to Purdue University getting a BSME,mechanical engineering degree. Frank worked 1949-1961 at OliverCorporation until the plant closed it's Cleveland office. From 1961-1980Frank worked at General Motors until the company sold his division to aGerman company, where Frank stayed until the German company went bankruptin 1980, then Frank retired. Per note from Frank, 3/96. "I was in the US Army from May 14, 1943 toMarch 26, 1946. I took basic training in the infantry, transferred to theAviation Cadet program briefly until it closed in April, 1944, and wentback to the infantry. I went to Europe with the 87th infantry division inOctober, 1944, and went into combat in December, 1944. I contractedtrenchfoot soon after and, after a few months in the hospital, was put onlimited duty, and worked in an office in France and Germany till I camehome in March, 1946. None of my sons has any military experience." Per phone conversation with Evelyn Davis Lundblad: both Frank and hiswife Alice like to drink, more since he retired. He is a very nice man.Kate, his mother, was very mad when he never married an Irish girl, butinstead married a Slovenian (really a Hungarian). Per Joan Srpan Lee interview with Jake Snyder: Frank and Alice would getup in the morning with a fifth of bourbon and drink all day. 7/7/97 I called Frank for Earl Carter new phone number to find out aboutJake Snyder's death. Frank has been sick for a year, having surgery Jan. 1997, for colonpolyps too large or inaccessable for colonoscopy. Since surgery, he hadtwo set backs with diarrhea and dehydration; lost 38#. Feels well now butdecreased strength. They found traces of cancer cells, no lympthinvolvement. He and Alice celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in December. On December 28, 1946, he married Alice Marie Nemeth, bornon April 15, 1925 in Moundsville WV, daughter of Joseph and RosalieNemeth. They had three sons. 11/6/1999 Per phone call to Mary and Earl Carter: Frank had colon cancer1 year ago and he never fully recovered from the surgery. He never gothis strength and weight back. Kept loosing weight and quit eating. Alicenever did much on her own and Frank's death is hard on her. Her son,Frank, helps take care of things for Alice. 2/2002 taped interview with Evelyn Davis Lundblad, Betty Davis Stroberg,Pat Stroberg Serio Betty-No, Pat (Stroberg-Serio) was never there. That's when we went tothat Nelson Ledges. Dorothy, me, Frankie (Bowser) and Earl would go allthrough the caves. Oh, we had fun. Evelyn-And me. A lot of time Mary and Jake would come. But Jake, he's aprince. Wasn't he a nice man? |
